چکیده
A protocol was developed for the efficient production and regeneration of Clostridium perfringens protoplasts. Cell wall regeneration frequencies of up to 5% were obtained.

Factors contributing to heat resistance of Clostridium perfringens endospores.
The endospores formed by strains of type A Clostridium perfringens that produce the C. perfringens enterotoxin (CPE) are known to be more resistant to heat and cold than strains that do not produce this toxin. The high heat resistance of these spores allows them to survive the cooking process, leading to a large number of food-poisoning cases each year. The relative importance of factors contri...
متن کاملShuttle plasmids for Escherichia coli and Clostridium perfringens.
Small plasmids which replicate in both Escherichia coli and Clostridium perfringens were made by recombining E. coli plasmid pBR322 with three different small (less than 4 kilobases) plasmids native to C. perfringens. Subsequently, two homologous, though distinct, tetracycline resistance determinants (tet) from other C. perfringens plasmids were cloned into them. Both tet systems made E. coli r...
متن کاملProtoplast Regeneration in Clostridium tertium: Isolation of Derivatives with High-Frequency Regeneration.
A procedure was developed for the formation and regeneration of protoplasts in Clostridium tertium. Although in the parent strain most of the protoplasts gave rise to L-form colonies, derivatives could be isolated which exhibited high regeneration frequencies.

متن کاملPLANT REGENERATION FROM MESOPHYLL PROTOPLASTS OF POTATO (SOLANUM TUBEROSUM L.) CULTIVAR DELAWARE USING SILVER THIOSULFATE (STS)
The use of in vitro potato shoot cultures for protoplast isolation is desirable for consistent protoplast qualities. Ethylene build-up in the culture vessels causes problems for leaf growth (e.g. decreasing leaf surface, dry weight and chlorophyll) in shoot culture. Fifty to one hundred µM Silver thiosulfate (STS) produced a larger leaf area as a source of plant material for protoplast isolatio...
